Recovery for Life Gala

On Friday, September 27th, more than 300 people gathered at Tavistock Country Club for Maryville’s annual Recovery for Life Gala. Guests enjoyed an evening of live music and dancing, dinner, a silent auction, and engaging speakers who shared their personal journeys.
This year, Maryville presented Paul Holmgren with the Advocacy in Action Award. Paul, who has spent 40 years with the Philadelphia Flyers, currently serving as Senior Advisor, is an AA sponsor, addiction recovery advocate, and role model to his peers and players. This year marks Paul’s 25th year in recovery.
Darryl Strawberry, eight-time MLB All-Star and four-time World Series champion, served as our guest speaker for the evening. With more than 15 years in recovery, today Darryl is an ordained minister; motivational speaker and author; and alongside his wife Tracy, operates a ministry focused on helping people achieve recovery from addiction.
