Maryville was awarded a New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (NJDMHAS) funding to hire five additional peer recovery specialists at our residential programs. These peers will be assigned to the five inpatient levels of care – medically monitored detox and short-term treatment in Williamstown, and those two as well as long-term treatment in Pemberton. Peer recovery services are a vital component to a client’s treatment and recovery experience. Peers serve as a support system due to their own personal experience with recovery and their ability to relate to the clients. They also assess what client linkages need to be made in preparation for discharge and assist in putting those in place. This helps clients to begin building recovery capital, the internal and external resources that aid an individual in sustaining long-term recovery.
